Recycled materials are used in the composition of brand items

In the month of the environment, TMD Friction, owner of the Cobreq brand of brake pads and linings, reinforces the environmental actions and guidelines that guide its activities and processes. The continuous investment in research and innovation guarantees the development of greener products and an operation aligned with the principles of social and environmental responsibility, health and safety. Among the measures adopted by the company is the use of recyclable materials in the manufacture of components for the automotive sector.

In the production of Cobreq brake linings for the heavy line, tires that would be discarded are reused and used by recycling their rubber in the composition of the parts. In addition to minimizing the impact on the environment, the measure also avoids the purchase of synthetic rubber for the manufacture of the item.

In the composition of some brake pads for cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles, Cobreq uses cellulose fibers, from the recycling of newspapers and magazines, and recycled aramid fiber. “The reused materials go through a process of separation, selection, grinding and classification to be incorporated into the automotive components”, explains Thiago dos Santos Angélica, responsible for formulations in the aftermarket of TMD Friction.

In addition to the reuse of materials, other actions focusing on environmental issues and worker health are adopted on the production line. The company works with raw materials free of heavy metals and the markings of Cobreq parts are made with water-soluble, water-based materials, which eliminates the use of solvents. “No type of solvent is used in the operation, contributing to the protection of the environment and the health of employees”, reinforces the person responsible for formulations. He also says that 100% of the inserts produced for the replacement market are exempt from copper, in which they comply with international legislation, including following determinations that are not yet mandatory in Brazil. “We are advanced in good environmental practices, with a differentiated operation, constant improvement process and intense work in research and development of increasingly sustainable solutions, always aligned with performance, quality and safety”, he says.

For Raulincom Borges da Silva, technical assistance coordinator at TMD Friction, the actions employed bring numerous benefits that go beyond the environmental issue. “The practices guarantee greater added value to the products, expand business opportunities and strengthen the brand”, he concludes.
