In mid-June 2019, long-distance driver Rainer Zietlow will try to break his own world record. The world record holder plans to establish a new long-distance world record on the world’s longest road, the Pan American Highway, which stretches over 16,000 miles (22,500 km) across 14 countries, from Alaska to Argentina . In less than 11 days and 17 hours, Rainer Zietlow and his team plan to break their own 2011 world record at the Pan American on board a Volkswagen Touareg. The German adventurer’s car will be a standard Volkswagen Amarok V6 with 224 hp produced at Volkswagen Argentina. The only modification is an additional fuel tank of 120 liters.

Textar is supporting the team that tries to break this record and also supported Rainer Zietlow in his previous successful long distance record on the Dakar-Moscow route in 2017. The Volkswagen Amarok V6 was fitted with TMD Friction brake pads. The original equipment and the brake pads without copper have gone through all the tests necessary to handle the special challenges.

In mid-June 2019, Rainer Zietlow and his team will begin the Alaskan world record attempt to Argentina crossing the Darién Jungle between Panama and Colombia in a scheduled cargo plane, since the Pan American is interrupted among these countries.

Since 2005, Rainer Zietlow has supported the international organization “SOS Children’s Villages” with their projects. For every kilometer traveled during his world record trip, he will donate 15 Euro cents to an SOS Children’s Village in Goioerê, Brazil.
